Prof. Jenifer Winter is currently in the northeastern coastal city of Dalian, China. She is there to attend a conference on emerging technologies and networks and to present her research on emerging privacy issues related to the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is a global architecture that will allow billions of everyday objects to be tagged and -- using standards enabling unique identification -- communicate over the Internet.
The photo below is Prof. Winter at a place called Tiger Beach, where a story tells that there was once a young maiden attacked by five tigers. A man rescued her there, and the sculpture behind Prof. Winter commemorates the incident.
Dalian is growing very quickly and is becoming a high-technology center due to the presence of an "information technology park" to foster high-tech growth and economic development.
